Holistic approach: There are many types of heart disease. If you're talking about cardiovascular disease dean ornish md proved it can be reversed with diet, exercise & stress reduction- see http://www.Ornishspectrum.Com/proven-program/the-research/ supplements also help- see reverse heart disease now by stephen sinatra md.There is also good evidence that chelation therapy helps.I advise working with a holistic doc.

Dr. Rothman, I agree that many saturated fats like ghee and coconut milk are generally beneficial for health. It is interesting that people did reverse cardiovascular disease on Dr. Ornush's extreme low-fat diet but that does not mean that it is the only way to reverse heart disease. In general I believe low-carb diets are healthier than low-fat diets but avoid fried foods and trans fats.

The ornish lifestyle program while successful in reversing heart disease, erroneously concludes that avoidance of saturated fat is a vital component of his program. This study did NOT address the issue of saturated fat. There are way too many variables to come to this conclusion. Does lifestyle matter? Of course! Is saturated fat bad? LOL! What about breast milk, ghee, and coconuts? Are these all bad?
