Insulin is like a taxi that takes blood glucose through the blood & into cells. If you can't make insulin (most kids/Type 1) you must use an external supply, or the glucose builds up in quantity inside the blood. Adult type 2 is where you don't make enough insulin, or it doesn't work as well. It doesn't matter what you eat, you can get type 2, but sugary sweets will aggravate the problem.
