A member asked:

When i research fractures in the literature all i can see is info on compression fractures. are they one in the same?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Different causes: Compression fractures are most commonly found in the lumbar and thoracic spine (low and mid back) . The most common cause is minimal trauma associated with osteoporosis. Other causes include severe trauma (like a car accident) and tumors. The treatment depends on the severity of the bone injury and whether or not there is any pressure on the spinal cord or spinal nerve roots.
