Compression fracture: A compression fracture in the thoracic or lumbar spine will generally heal in 6-8 weeks but can take longer. If a patient of mine is not having much pain at six weeks I would consider letting her begin outpatient Physical Therapy. If she were tender in the area of the fracture or having pain with bending or twisting then I would wait another month or so!!
