A member asked:

Should i get my 14 yr old daughter a tetanus shot? she hasn't had one before now.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Confusing question: Every kid in my practice has a tetanus shot as part of the DTaP series, repeated several times in infancy and boosted at 4 and 10-12. Separate tetanus shots are seldom given outside of an ER when used after a laceration. If your kid was not immunized as a child or did not receive boosters, it should be given as part of a wellness visit. Tetanus boosters are recommended every 10 yrs in adults
