20-30 minutes: Ibuprofen takes about 20-30 minutes to be effective. You can take 800 mg every 6 hours if needed. It works great for inflammation. Taken with Tylenol it reduces most pain. You can add 1000 mg of acetaminophen to your dose if you are hurting a lot. The two work really well together to stop pain! Hope this helps!
