Diffuse Nerve Pain: Hello. Herpes Zoster doesn't typically work like that- causing diffuse nerve pain. It's typically very specific to one or two nerve distributions (dermatomes) on ONE side of the body. Acyclovir can cause diffuse muscle and bone pain. Topical lidocaine, oral gabapentin, lyrica, (pregabalin) etc. are options to treat the symptoms you describe.
