Not likely: Disc problems can cause nerve pain that radiates down the leg, including over the knee; but they don't usually cause problems with motion or stability in the knee. The main exception to this is if there is such severe nerve compression that atrophy and weakness in the muscles occur, then the knee can feel unstable secondary to weakness.
