Sounds like: You need to see an orthopedic surgeon. Why not discuss this in person with your primary care physician so that the appropriate referral can be made.

Failed connection.: There could be a lot more going on here than just your ankle failing. The ankle movement is controlled by lower leg muscles, and it appears that there may be a neuromuscular disconnect. You need to pursue treatment by a experienced neurologist by way of your family doctor.
