A member asked:

I understand the role of something like a fever in the immune response, but how does inflammation, or swelling help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Inflammation: Inflammation leads to the opening of capillaries and other cellular structures which makes it easier for the immune cells to get to the place of infection and attempt to quell the uprising.
