"tissue penetration": Differences in concentration of antibiotics in tissues can be substantial. but are factored into the recommended dosing. For bacterial URI, azithromycin is effective, but it is a very broad spectrum antibiotic that should not be used when more specific and equally effective options exist. Eg PCN, Augmentin, (amoxicillin and clavulanate) clindamycin.
