Piercing issues: It sounds as if the pressure from the ball is eroding into the skin. The pressure impress blood flow causing the skin to die. I would change it to something else or bend it if possible. If all else fails just remove it. You wouldn't want to end up with wounds, infection, or permanent scarring.

Options: Here are a couple things you could try. Get longer ring so that balls are not pushing on the skin. Get ring with larger balls so they are not creating holes in skin.
