Treatment of Sore: This one is difficult to answer without seeing the site. Wounds in diabetic patients tend to heal slowly. Also, your mom's condition sounds like an abscess and if so the best treatment is to have it surgically drained because it's very difficult to get enough antibiotic to the site because the abscess is a "walled off" compartment. It might be best to see a surgeon.
