Probably normal: Although it's not common, some people seem to cough more than usual soon after stopping smoking. Tobacco smoking slows the normal movement of microscopic hairs that line your lungs. When you stop smoking, these hairs/cilia become active again. When active, they help clear mucus from your lungs. It should improve on own. Drink lots of water. See doc if persists >2 months.
