Maybe: Reference ranges are set so that a few percent of healthies fall outside. However, an anemia (low Hgb) is ALWAYS worth investigating. Your physician will guide you here. Don't be concerned with a slightly low absolute monocyte count.

Went in for joint pain, sun rash, headaches and severe fatigue. Blood work-CRP 8, ESR normal. RDW 16.3% w/ MCHC 30.7 but hgb & hct normal. Positive for EBV antibodies, no recent infection and negative on mono. ANA speckled @ 1:160. Any ideas? Lupus?

Is an RDW of 16 concern? Hemaglobin in the 10's, mcv, mch, mchc all in the low normal. Hgb 10.6, RBC 3.99 platelets 262, lymph/mono/seg % normal.
