Usually inflammation: Usually inflammation is the cause, but not only from inflammatory arthritis. Severe diabetics can have this, as can smokers. Have your doctor sort it out. A chronically elevated CRP is a marker for accelerated vascular disease. It needs to be lowered if elevated!
