Thickened bowel: The abscess could likely be the cause of the thickening, like scarring when heeling. Because of its location, consideration should be made to make sure you do not have inflammatory bowel disease, of which can place you at risks for these abscesses and thickening of the bowel walls. Follow up with your primary care doctor to obtain a referral to a Gastroenterologist. Further testing could help.
