Know calories.: Without knowing the calories of the foods you eat, there is no reliable way to lose weight consistently and to keep it off permanently. The first step is to know the calories of everything edible (and drinkable) that goes in your mouth. Second is to know how many calories you currently consume in a day Decreasing calorie intake will lead to weight loss. Count first, and keep a food dairy.

Weight loss: you can calculate calories needed by BMR basal metabolic rate see http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/ add 200 calories if some activity, if a marathoner add more. Count your calories and be active wear a pedometer and walk 8000-10,000 steps a day. Good luck and stay healthy too much weight loss is not good either.
