If a newborn travels in plane can it affect her hearing?

Short term risk: First if all, it's a really bad idea to take an infant on a plane for at least 3 reasons - potential middle and inner ear damage, painful pressure on take off, could think of a few more. A ruptured ear drum does heal quickly, but why take that chance ?

No way to tell: During my service years overseas it was routine for me to discharge newborns to the airport van. They flew from Tokyo back to the states for the first few months before returning to our base.I followed them when they returned, and never had a related problem.I don't know how you'd test their hearing, but the ones I followed had no problems.
