A member asked:

The white section of my eyes has a pale blue 8mm thick ring around them and is increasing in size everyday? is there a reason for this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Scleral thinning: As you age or if you have high myopia the sclera (white part of your eye) is thinned and the dark uveal tissue deep to it becomes more visible. The dark color of the uvea is reflected back through the sclera and the light is scattered creating a bluish appearance...just as light is scattered in the atmosphere making it blue and in the oceans (oxymetazoline).
