Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Memory loss & dement: Dementia is often preceded by depression. By definition, dementia then affects mental health via memory loss. Later on, most types of dementia aside from Lewy bodies can lead to hallucinations & delusions. Of note, dementia w/Lewy bodies is notable for hallucinations early on in disease course, accompanied by Parkinsonian symptoms. Check out www.alz.org.
