Only with surgery: Hypermetropia or hyperopia is a refractive error where the optical elements of the eye are too weak for the length of the eye. Commonly this is known as farsightedness. Glasses and contact lenses can be used to improve the vision but do not change the size or shape of the eye. Refractive surgery may treat the problem, if indicated.
