Can a pediatrician treat adults as well?

MostNotTrainedBut: Most pediatricians are not trained to treat adults but there are training programmes called MED/PED in which doctors are trained in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and they can treat adults and children as well

Of course: The problem arises in his comfort level in doing so. The same diagnostic reasoning process goes on and if well trained no problem. The other issue is with insurance, in that insurance plans may not want to pay the doctor if not board certified in adult medicine and hospitals will not give admitting privileges to doctors without board certification in adult medicine.
