SSRIs: Not indicated for Bipolar depression, unless the mood is stabilized with a mood stabilizer or antipsychotics, and the patient is in a depressed phase. Use with caution.

Bipolar Disorder: There is potential for use of an SSRI to cause a bipolar person to flip into mania or a mixed state. I may use an SSRI to treat a concurrent anxiety disorder or PTSD.
