More to it: An ssri alone is not the treatment of choice because it can precipitate a manic or hypomanic episode. Most psychiatrists would combine it with a mood stabilizer or consider a different class of medication in order to avoid that. Bipolar ii is over-diagnosed. I can't offer an opinion about you, but many people who get the diagnosis are not bipolar, and the depression responds to psychotherapy.
