Here are some...: A dilated ureter -hydroureter - may result from congenital (inborn) or acquired factors. Congenital examples - adynamic (nonfunctional) distal ureter; acquired ones - obstruction by stone(s), tumors, accidental injury by surgery, retroperitoneal fibrosis, retroperitoneal masses including lymph node enlargement and the state after rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm, etc.
