How can the elderly continue to have agency over their health?

Dr. Alvin Lin answered

Decision making capa: Great question. As long as someone retains decision making capacity, they retain agency over their health. Your Family Doc can assess decision making capacity while courts decide competency. Patients can retain lower levels of capacity (what to eat & wear) while losing high level eg agency over health. This is common w/mild-to-moderate dementia.
