Conjunctivitis: Pepper spray will cause an intense chemical conjunctivitis. You should immediately flush your eyes with water for several minutes. I would recommend a consult with an ophthalmologist for further treatment as soon as possible.

Inflames membranes: Pepper spray(capsaicin spray) is a lacrimator. It causes inflammation of mucous membranes of eyes, nose, throat & lungs & causes eyes to burn & close (often with temporary blindness), nasal congestion, coughing, pain and difficulty breathing.
