Lacrimators: Both are lacrimators. Pepper spray contains capsicum,(think hot chili peppers). Tear gas, is usually made with ω-chloroacetophenone(CN) or o-chlorobenzylidenemalononitrile (CS). There have different chemical compositions but many of the same symptoms.
