Suggests a virus: Assuming your child is in that toddler to young child range, a low grade fever and irritated mucous membranes suggests a virus, which is what we call a cold. If there is eye discharge, or a "drippy" eye, there may be a conjunctivitis or "pink eye" that may need to be looked at. Ear, sinus and lung infections may be bacterial, so if it doesn't go away or worsens, call your doc.
