Compressed nerve.: When we sleep on our arms, we can awaken with such symptoms as you've described secondary to nerve compression as we sleep. The symptom is not strong enough to awaken us from sleep usually so we sleep through the night compressing this nerve, which then causes the arm, hand and fingers to feel tingly and sometimes painful. Does go away.
