Hepatorenal syndrome: Often as the liver function continues to deteriorate, acute renal failure tends to follow. Renal replacement therapy (dialysis) can be considered but hypotension (low BP) would make intermittent hemodialysis impossible. In this setting, CRRT (continuous renal replacement therapy) can be tried--i.e. continuous venovenous hemodialysis (CVVHD).
