A boil with fever: 7 months old child with a "boil" in diaper area and later running a fever. Usually a boil or a small furuncle is a small abscess will not cause fever unless there is extensive skin involvement or sign of systemic toxicity such as high fever, lethargy, vomiting. So if you child has these sign and symtoms it would be a good idea to has her or him examined asap.
