Exactly the opposite: Implicit memory at 5 mos. leads to recognition of stranger vs. non-stranger & stranger anxiety at 6 mos. in a neurotypical infant. Have the same sitter come & play with both of you,, rolling a ball amongst the 3 of you. Then while the sitter plays with him, say "bye" without showing anxiety; come back in 10 minutes. Smile & resume play. Repeat as needed. Separation anxiety develops at 9 mos.
