Minimum of 48 hours: Before imbibing alcohol. This drug has an Antabuse-like effect that can last in your body for up to 48 hours. So you should refrain from drinking during this time. You want to be able to absorb your full dose of my metronidazole, and not feel nauseous and sick afterwards.
