Sort of: The true glomerular filtration rate is very hard to measure. The creatinine clearance is a practical way of measuring it, which requires a timed urine collection and a blood sample. It is much more accurate then the crude and subscientific estimate of the glomerular filtration rate / GFR from a spot creatinine.
