How can you distinguish between irritable bowel syndrome and lactose intolerance?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lactose intolerance: Will cause you to have bloating, gas, and diarrhea within two hours of consuming it in dairy foods. If you have symptoms, and haven't consumed any lactose, then you may have IBS.
