C. difficile colitis: Metronidazole alone may not be particularly effective, depending upon the strain of C. diff with which you have been infected. You may need a combination of oral vancomycin and colonic flora rearrangement. Do not know why your son has been having cramps, or what type of practice your doctor has, but suggest seeing an infectious diseases expert.

Contact Dr ASAP!: From what I know, C-diff is VERY contagious and w/out rigorous care, the chance of spreading it to others is BIG. So, have your son evaluated/treated and get really good, clear directions from the Dr for preventing further spread. It's a challenge and you may need some help to be as safe as possible. I hope it goes well for you all!
