Could be strep: If you have a severe sore throat it would be a good idea to see a doctor and be checked for strep infection. If it is strep you need antibiotics. With strep throat you often have very painful throat with pus, swollen lymph nodes, fever and no cough. There are other causes of sore throat but it is best to have a doctor look at it if it is severe.
