A member asked:

A family member has cancer and ascites. the fluid was removed but am curious if either cancer (which im pretty sure is not) or ascites is contagious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely not: Physicians may forget to explain this to families. I'm sorry about your loved one, and also that you were frightened. Don't be afraid to touch this person or show warmth / appreciation for however long you have together.
