Is it possible to misread a thumb xray? my thumb knuckle has been enlarged for over a month from falling on it and i still have pain

Sprain: If no fracture on xray most likely a soft tissue injury. A ligament sprain, capsular tear or tendon injury are possible. Can take up to 4 months for acute swelling from a finger injury to resolve particularly if you are using it. If you have concerns about the reading than take a copy of xray to hand surgeon for evaluation
