Close observation: Barrett's esophagus could lead to cancer. you and your brother need to be very close observation with your GI specialist.you need regular screening upper endoscopy and frequent biopsies. you should ask for the surgical options, fundoplication is one of them,it will not reverse the Barrett's but it can stop the progression,as long as you do not have dysplasia or pre-cancer lesion,it should be good.

Should be monitored.: Barrett is the condition that predisposes to the cancer development in distal esophagus. A regular surveillance endoscopy is recommend to obtain biopsy specimen from the suspected areas to rule out cancer or pre-cancer (dysplasia) development. You should see a GI doctor to establish such a surveillance. Further treatment will depend on the initial biopsy findings. Good luck.
