Hand swelling: this could be problem with kidney (spilling too much protein in urine) or liver (not making enough protein); could be auto-immune condition like hypothyroid, rheumatoid arthritis, or lupus. could be heart problem though this is unlikely if you don't also have feet swelling. could be anemia or nerve problem or others but these are the more common ones.

Arthritis.: If the hands alone are swelling, especially in the morning, and if they hurt in the morning or with a lot of use, this could be arthritis.
