Yes: you should be able to stop if it is just once a day. There are no withdrawal symptoms associated with aspirin. Additionally a once a day dose is out of your system manner hours before you take your next dose.

TAPER OFF: Not really sure why you were on high dose buffered aspirin and what amount is high dose. I always recommend a taper off of long term medications.
