Worst headache of my life over 1week ago & now daily right sided headaches since then.no prior history of headaches.on plavix &aspirin for years.pcp assumes its a migraine & recommended imitrex. no imaging done. is imitrex dangerous to take if bleed?

The “worst headache of your life” with no prior headaches is concerning, especially since you are taking Plavix and aspirin. You should probably get a CT scan of your head just to make sure there is no bleed. So, you can call your PCP to get it done as an outpatient or go to the nearest emergency room. If no bleed is found, then alternate diagnoses, like migraine, can be pursued. Good luck!

Agree with Dr Ferranti as sudden severe headache without prior history could represent bleeding which needs imaging to rule out. Especially important in associated meds. Imitrex does not cause bleeding but does have potential heart and brain vascular risks. Get a second opinion
