Does me taking ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) get in the way of my dentist pinpointing what's causing me pain?

See dentist soon: See your dentist ASAP, the dentist will do a clinical and radiographic examination to determine the cause of your toothache. What is the dosage of Tylenol (acetaminophen) that is taken? Is it over the counter or prescription? Small amounts may tide you over until you see the dentist, it does not appear this would mask the symptoms or location of the discomfort.

It can...: If you take pain meds before your visit, you may be masking the problem you are trying to solve. Allow 8 hours for the meds to clear your system before your appointment.
