A member asked:

If a rapid progressor has hiv then does he remains sick continuosly for 2 - 3 yrs or get opportunistic infections at the end of these 2 - 3 yrs ?

HIV: Your astute question is difficult to answer, mainly because this is such a highly variable illness, with each patient providing their own clinical variant. As a rule, patients who progress rapidly have low CD4 counts earlier than others, and this obviously then predisposes to opportunistic infections, but interestingly some not as readily as others. Hope this helps.
