Only Group B strep: In general, genital infections that are cured by antibiotics are no longer present in the body. The one exception is infection with Group B strep. Group B strep is a germ that commonly lives in the gastrointestinal tract of men and women, but does not cause any symptoms. It can spread to the genital tract of women and in pregnancy can be very dangerous to baby infected prior to or during delivery

More info, please.: What kind of infection? Do you know the name of the bacteria or virus that caused it? What treatment was given? Who told you that women can remain infected? What do you mean when you say "re-infected by auto"? We need to know this to give you accurate information.
