Weight bearing: Weight bearing exercise, such as walking, is the best form of exercise to increase bone mass density. Strength training and hypertrophic exercises can increase muscle strength and size, respectively, and may be somewhat helpful for increasing bone mass density, but the exercise method of choice is weight bearing. Carrying weight while walking can increase benefit.
