They might: Impacted and malpositioned wisdom teeth are often tucked in and touching the distal root of the second molar. This area is almost impossible to floss, brush, and keep clean, resulting in root caries on the second molar. In the end, the wisdom tooth still needs to be extracted to restore the second molar. If they are impacted, extract them... they will never do you any good.
